The Polish Aikido Federation is recognized by The International Aikido Federation, The Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo.
Aikido in Chojnice - History
Oct. 1st 1993 – Mr. Wojciech Gorzelanczyk leads the first aikido training in Chojnice.
Jan.28th 1994 – first tests – almost 50 people gets their 6th kyu from sensei Marian Wisniewski.
Autumn 1994 – a new instructor, Mr. Ryszard Manikowski
June 1st 1995 – Chojnice Aikido Association (CHSA) is established. The Board of CHSA: Maciej TJ Gostomski – President; Tomasz Bulawa – V-ce President; Piotr Wisniewski – Secretary;
Feb. 1996 – Slawomir Dziuba takes over the function of the Secretary of the CHSA.
Sept. 1996 – A new season begins. CHSA in intensively supported by sensei Marian Wisniewski, the Secretary of Polish Aikido Federation, and his direct students: Jacek Jaroszewski, Zygmunt Wisniewski and Krzysztof Jers.
May 1997 – V-ce President CHSA Tomasz Bulawa temporarily leaves for Great Britain.
Sept. 1997 – Maciej TJ Gostomski becomes responsible for trainings and Chojnice Aikido Section (CHSA) officially starts its activity.
Oct. 1998 – V Anniversary of aikido in Chojnice is celebrated.
Feb. 24th – 25th 2001 – First Japanese instructor, sensei Fujio Nakamura, 4th dan aikikai.
Oct. 6th – 7th 2001 – Kenzo Miyazawa shihan, 7th dan aikikai, the V-ce President of the International Aikido Federation leads the 25th Anniversary of Aikido in Poland Seminar in Chojnice.
Oct. 2003 - X Anniversary of aikido in Chojnice is celebrated.
Jan. 2005 – Maciej TJ Gostomski moves temporarily to California, USA.
Feb. 1st 2005 – New instructors, Tomasz Bulawa and Monika Swiniarska take over the CHSA and leading of the trainings in Chojnice.
From the very beginning up till now there were a few hundred people training aikido in CHSA: small children, the youth and adults. Many instructors like sensei Piotr Borowski, sensei Jerzy Sapiela and others have visited us. Special thanks go to sensei Marian Wisniewski for his continuous help and support through all those years.
We keep in our minds all those beautiful moments spent together on the tatami with people, for whom aikido has become passion.
